In the Fairway: Scottie Scheffler’s BMW Victory & a Lesson in Pressure
Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant season with a commanding win at the BMW Championship at Caves Valley, taking home $3.6 million after finishing at -15, two shots ahead of Robert MacIntyre. The moment of the tournament? An insane chip-in from the rough on 17 that sealed the deal. It was eerily reminiscent of Tiger’s legendary chip-in on 16 during the 2005 Masters Tournament.
But here’s the thing… where’s the emotion? Scottie’s post-win interviews, like many he’s done this season, centered on how unfulfilling it is to win, to be No. 1, and that golf isn’t the most important thing in his life. And while I respect his faith, humility, and perspective, I do think he’s walking a fine line. Fans want someone to root for. They want someone who shows joy and passion after reaching the pinnacle. Even just a little fist pump would go a long way.
